Using that definition, the list of canon dark force users is as eclectic as it is deadly – and the most famous Dark Jedi are far from the most powerful beings on this list. Others are simply powerful wielders of the dark side who have chosen not to adhere to Sith tradition. Some started out as Jedi who, despite years of training and adherence to the light, eventually succumb to the dark side’s promise of power and control. The concept of Dark Jedi has been prominent since the early days of the old Star Wars EU (now Star Wars Legends), and it continues to play heavily into the new canon. As Darth Sidious himself once said, the dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities, and there’s a fairly large collection of canonical non-Sith characters who’ve given in to its allure for one reason or another. The Star Warsuniverse is home to a wide and at times frightening array of dark side Force users, many of whom aren’t officially Sith.
